plesk / phpmyadmin database export.php not found

good old plesk and phpmyadmin combination nightmare that’s been an issue for several years…

the problem: export.php not found

occasionally when exporting databases from phpmyadmin you will get the file not found error.

which is a stupid error because the file is in fact there, it’s caused by the attempted export of large databases and uses up a lot of memory, if php hasn’t been allocated enough memory, we get the error.

a solution

so, edit the php.ini file:
vi /usr/local/psa/admin/conf/php.ini
and up the memory_limit to a sensible setting of your choice. i changed my one from 64MB to 256MB.
memory_limit = 256MB;
you will then need to restart plesk:
/etc/init.d/psa restart
